My Earliest Memory

For some reason, I started thinking about my earliest memory lately, and while I remember little glimpses of incidences, the clearest of it all when was the month of August when I was four years old. My dad woke me up in the middle of the night [in my defense, to a four year old, anything after eight is middle of the night] because my mother was in labour. We got a cab by our apartment in Tampines and I remember seated in the middle at the back, slumped against the seat whilst the cabbie raced to the hospital, beating one traffic light after another.

I don't remember much about what happened when we got to the hospital, but I now know the labour was quick. I think whilst the nurses were cleaning my baby brother and my mum up, my dad took me to the Tekka Market near Kandang Kerbau Hospital, where my brother was born, and bought me my favourite drink - ice cold Bandung.

When we went back to the hospital, I remember the nurses had my brother in a crib that acted as a weighing scale. I remember reaching in and nudging his little head and my dad warned me not to do that again.

Of course, that wasn't the last time I nudged my brother's head. ;o) What was your earliest memory?
