Beyond Bettie Page

According to the heaven-sent Wikipedia, Bettie Page [who passed away December 11, 2008] was an American model who became famous in the 1950s for her fetish modeling and pin-up photos. She has often been called the "Queen of pinups". Her look, including her jet black hair and trademark bangs, has influenced many artists. She was also one of the earliest Playmates of the Month for Playboy magazine. "I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society," Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told the Associated Press.

For the month of October, we paid tribute to the pin up girls of yesteryears for the best cover shoot and spread VIP has seen to date. Here are some of my favourite out of the shots that we did, you can check out the rest here.

And my favourite shot of all:

Pretty smokin', don't you think? I think so. It really helped that Isabela is a great model to work with - actually come to think of it, I've been very lucky to have worked with a great team shoot after shoot.

Scott and I shot VIP's November shoot today and the 10-hour shoot took a toll on my already-aching back. I popped in four painkillers already, and I hope the pain will subside. The shoot, an Alice in Wonderland theme, turned out amazing, and I'm really looking forward to the final product.

For now, I'm knackered, and sweet slumber beckons...
