I'll admit - I haven't been the most excited to blog the past couple of days. Makes me wonder how people can have that much drive - and that much content they're passionate about to write every single day.
Anyway, I found myself at CHALK's first birthday bash. If you don't know it already, unless you've been born with a silver spoon shoved in your mouth, it's not easy being a designer in Singapore. People are always apprehensive about quality, complaining about how expensive it tends to be [and for the record, CHALK is really affordable], and lots of other pathetic excuses. And then of course, the same people will complain about the lack of local talent in Singapore.
It's not that there is a lack of talent in this country, it's just that people never give them the time and money that their effort and talent deserves.
All that aside, CHALK launched their Fall 2010 Collection that is inspired by Annie Hall. Here's what Priscilla has to say about her collection:
Chalk unveils the holiday season with a new line inspired by Annie Hall. Post-modern, intellectual and eternally conflicted about NOT being conflicted, Annie is the quintessential woman of today grappling with career, relationships and that elusive meaning in life.
Work stress, angry disgruntled red-faced boss, endless paper work and that colleague who just won’t shut up? Annie looks calm and relaxed. Legs crossed, mind focused, pen at her lips. Unperturbed. She looks confident. She knows it. C’est La Vie
Work late. Angry disgruntled boyfriend/husband. Dab on that red lipstick. One wink and he falls under her spell. The city lights beckon, washing away dark thoughts of day.
Sometimes the world can wait. And sometimes, just sometimes, the world waits on you.
Chalk addresses the complexities of the woman today with a range of dresses and outfits to suit each moment from day to night. Whether it be light comfortable pieces for work or a casual date to elegant shimmering drapes to match the dazzling city at night, this collection has one theme in mind. To make every moment your very own.
Say: C’est La Vie. Also say: Life is what you make of it.
Here are some photos from the event:
I was also wearing CHALK for the day. I love the bright blue colour on me. Pity I look ginormous next to the tiny Priscilla:
Happy birthday, CHALK! Here's to many more years of fabulousity to come!
