I like brunch. Unfortunately, I am never up in time to have it. This morning, however, I made sure I did. Andrea and I decided to have a pre-Valentine's Day brunch at Gattopardo, in the beautiful Hotel Fort Canning. The press release tempted us with mentions of Homemade Prawn Ravioli with cheese saffron sauce, Homemade Potato Gnocchi with Rucola pesto and oven dried tomatoes, Wood-fired Pizza Margherita & Eolie, Grilled Spring Lamb Chops, amongst others. Who were we to say no?
Andrea packed up her gaggle of beautiful children and we feasted:
While the selection was more humble than the buffet brunches I've been to at Shangri-la Singapore and the Hyatt, we really didn't need any more food. Sage and I polished at least two dozen oysters between us, amongst many other things we shoved down our throats.
Those who love cheese will be bowled over by the selection of cheeses they have: Pecorino, Taleggio, Ricotta Fresca, Gorgonzola, Parmesan Wheel, Caciotte, Caciocavallo, Fontina and Emmenthal.
The seafood, fresh; the desserts, mouth-watering and the service was impeccable. I'd go there again in a heartbeat - if not for the fact that I'm not made of money.
This was not a sponsored meal and Andrea and I paid for our own brunches. Buffet + free flow of juices would set you back SGD$78++ [I paid about SGD$94 after taxes] and Andrea, the alcoholic that she is [I kid] paid SGD$128++ for buffet + free flow of bubbly. Kids under five dine for free.
