My answers to your questions.
On Fashion & Style
Would like to know how do you normally shop? I usually just head to stores I already like and pick out something I like. But I tend to miss out on other great deals and items in places I never thought of going! Can you do a quick summary of your usual shopping trips? I don't usually go out with the intention of shopping. It's usually between meetings that I pop into Zara, or Topshop, or whatever's on Orchard Road and occasionally spot something that I like and take it home. Honestly, my wardrobe is now filled with more stuff I have purchased online or overseas than stuff I buy locally. Shops that I always go to are: Zara, River Island [especially for their shoes!], Karen Millen, H&M, Topshop. I also love local labels Chalk, Hansel and Sabrina Goh.
I like to scope out the sale sections in multi-label boutiques like Retail Therapy, Trixilini and Eclecticism.
My online shopping mainly comes from ASOS.
Are there stuff in your wardrobe you have never worn? Haha, yes! Off the top of my head, I can think of four - one, a gorgeous light coral long dress I bought in Barcelona but haven't had the chance to wear. It's a little bit Grecian and a little bit Flamenco-esque. I think it's a great dress to wear to someone's Spring wedding, but I've yet to fish it out.
Two, a gorgeous dress with a lace overlay I bought years ago on eBay that's tagged a Size 10 but fits like a 4. It's a princess-esque dress and my heart yearns to be able to wear it, but I'll never be a four, and it's okay. Maybe one day my daughter will wear it.
Three, a Miu Miu-inspired dress from ASOS I bought four years ago, that I wore several times when I first got it, but every time I put it on, I feel like I'm too old to wear it now. I still love it so, and maybe it'll be a great dress for an Alice in Wonderland theme party?
Four, an Herve Leger number I bought on crazy discount recently that I'm waiting to wear for a special night out with J, because I know he'd appreciate dresses like that. ;o)
Your favourite lipstick? I wear MAC's Touch all the time. It's my perfect nude and I have several tubes of it cos' I sometimes forget to wear any and it's the easiest to buy.
Is there a beauty product you never leave home without? I used to have concealer on me as a bare minimum, but these days, I'm like "F**k it". When I'm going, and leaving from the gym, I'll have my favourite SPF 130 on.
Is J your first love? Yes. When I was younger, I thought I was in love, but now I know I was in love with the idea of being in love. It's two very different things.
What will you be doing when J moves back to the US? Do you have a game plan to approach LDR? We don't have a "game plan" per say, but we have a plan. In the meantime, I will throw myself into work and working out and try my darnest to make sure missing him doesn't consume me. :o(
Is J a Muslim? Has he met your parents and what do they think of him? My parents have met J as one of my friends and not my boyfriend. My parents will meet my partner when I've said yes to his proposal.
How did you and J meet? It's a story for another time, honey.
When did you know you love J? Jonathan Safran Foer perfectly summed it up when he said this in his book, Everything Is Illuminated:
"This is love, she thought, isn't it? When you notice someone's absence and hate that absence more than anything? More, even, than you love his presence?"
Favourite smell? Babies. Coconuts. Sephora's Scented Coconut Milk Spray is awesome - I have it spritzed into my sheets all the time.
And durians. I don't know how durians can be smelly. They smell, but in awesomely amazing way that makes me salivate like no other fruit will make me salivate.
Care to share, does the number on the scale matters to you? Of course! Especially in the more recent months because I haven't been hitting the gym. I'd know I've put on weight by how my clothes fit. I've stopped focusing on losing weight, but more on whipping myself into shape. I like the lines that you get on various parts of your body as the result of working out. Fit is the new sexy.
An entry on financial stuffs that you do? insurance, savings etc? i’m sure many of us readers need some enlightenment on that but please make that after skincare and other girly stuff! I don't know if I'm right, but I pay for several insurance policies, particularly because I'm petrified of going broke if I ever fall ill. My savings scheme is very simple - I plonk 12 - 15% of what I make every month into a separate bank account that I don't touch. Another 15 - 20% goes to my folks, some of it cash, some of it groceries or my taking them out for dinner and entertainment.
What do you eat for breakfast? 1 - 2 hardboiled eggs and green tea or ginger tea. I'll also throw in soy milk, yogurt or fruits in the mix too.
What did you think would never happen to you but did? I always believe you have to work hard to get the things you want, and with a lot of the things in my life, I have worked hard, and I'm still working hard. But there are some things you can't work hard for, and let it just happen. Love, is one.
What TV shows do you watch? SO MANY! Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy [since its first season!], 2 Broke Girls, New Girl, The Big Bang Theory. I love reruns of Martin and Sanford & Son.
What can never fail to make you happy? Balloons, Soap & Glory products, compliments [duh] and J.
What are you looking forward to now? Hitting the gym! And wearing my new cowboy boots.
Do you know how many places you have been to? At last count, 105 cities in 21 countries. There are 196 countries in the world, so I've been to a measly 10.71%.
Where are you travelling to next? The big US of A!
Your dream destinations? So, so many. I want to go to Hawaii, Bora Bora and Morocco. These top my list at the 'mo.
