I've been in LA for a few days now, and while my jet lag hasn't left me as quickly as usual (I blame it on ageing) we're headed to San Francisco tomorrow. Since I started my back-and-forth jaunts to LA, we've explored several cities in California including Palm Springs, Santa Barbara and San Diego. They've all been road trips, and this is the first time we're hopping on a plane and heading somewhere.

It's always exciting travelling to a new place, but I get particularly excited when I go to a place I relate my love for pop culture to. So many movies I watched growing up have been shot in San Francisco, including The Maltese Falcon, Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, Mrs Doubtfire, The Princess Diaries (pre-Hathaway baring her boobs to the world era).

Can't wait. Watch this space!

My Eyes Are Up Here - How to Bra Fit with Faz + Andrea Claire

Considering it's a piece of clothing most of us have on everyday, we make so many mistakes with it - whether it's the wrong colour, the wrong type, or the most lethal of all, the wrong size. When you have on a wrong bra size, a lot of things can go wrong - unflattering pockets of flesh will bulge out in unsightly places, you can't breathe, or on the other side of the spectrum, if the bra is too big, it won't give you the support that your bosom buddies need. Andrea and I took on the task of sussing out how to bra fit with the help of the good people at La Senza (Singapore). Find out how to find your right bra size, what bra to wear with a low-back top or dress and find out how my bondage gear for Halloween looks like! There's a lot of boobs in the video, both mine and Andrea's, so be warned:

How to measure your boobies:

(A) Using a tape measure, measure around your ribcage (in inches) The tape should rest snugly and smoothly against your skin.

(B) Add 5 inches to that first measurement to determine your band size.

(C) Next is to determine your cup size. Again, using a tape measure, measure the fullest part of your bust, holding the tape measure straight, but not too tightly. Take the initial measurement of your ribcage in (A). The difference is the basis of your cup size; each inch of difference equals one cup size:

  • less than 1 inch = AA cup
  • 1 inch = A cup
  • 2 inches = B cup
  • 3 inches = C cup
  • 4 inches = D cup
  • 5 inches = DD cup (E)
  • 6 inches = DDD cup (F)
  • 7 inches = DDDD cup (G)

How to Tell If Your Bra Doesn't Fit Your Properly:

  • Shoulder strap digs in
  • Bra band rides up at the back
  • Centre front is lifted - the centre front of the bra, right in the middle of your breasts should sit flat on your body.
  • Underwire digs in
  • Bulging cups - if your breasts bulge out over the top of the bra, it's probably way too small for you.
  • The bra looks baggy.

DIY Wardrobe Makeover

While most of us wake up in the morning and lament about how we have nothing to wear, Andrea is one of those who goes shopping in her own wardrobe. Walking into her walk-in wardrobes in her first home in Singapore, and Texas was like walking through Wonderland. Cute green coat, wicked boots, one after another after another of timeless black dresses. It's like being in a VOGUE closet but better - we're about the same size!

Being the stylist of the dynamic twosome that we are, Andrea asked me to help me cull her wardrobe. We came, we saw, we conquered. [And then after that, we went on ASOS and shopped some more.] Check our video blog:

The best way to start culling a wardrobe is to know what you need in a basic wardrobe. Some stylists insist that people need a few basic things in your wardrobe -like owning a good pair of jeans; but I almost never wear jeans so it's not a staple I need.

Wardrobe essentials need to be:

* Trendproof: you can wear them year after year without looking like you just stepped out of a time machine. A well-fitted black blazer with cuffs rolled up that you can throw on over a t-shirt and chinos for a day event, or worn over a silk camisole & dress pants for a meeting.

* Flexible: You can dress 'em up or down: throw on a snazzy necklace and you're ready for a night out or a pair of sandals and you're ready for a movie date.

While wardrobe foundations are different for everyone, if there are a few things every woman needs, they are

1. A pair of neutral-coloured flats. 2. A pair of sexy heels 3. A little black dress 4. A piece of statement jewellery or accessory you can always depend on [I usually turn to my mother's vintage gold ring, my YSL oval arty ring, or my Dad's chunky Omega Seamaster] 5. A leather bag that is not seasonal. 6. Good underwear

Everything else, whether it's swimwear, office suits, shirts and other knick knacks are secondary and are dependant on your style, and the climate of the country you live in.

Good luck! I'll be more than thrilled to help you out with building a basic wardrobe! ;o)
